War of the Worlds

Posted by Hello
"No one would have believed in the last years of the Nineteenth century
that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences
greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied
themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinized and
studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might
scrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of
water."

... So starts the all-time favorite science fiction by H.G. Wells. After
almost half a century after the first cinematic version (in 1953) was
released, Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures are bringing
back a modern version of "War of the Worlds" to theaters on June 29th.
In the movie they changed the phrase "...in the last years of the
Nineteenth Century" by "... in the early years of the Twenty-first century".

The Film is directed by Steven Spielberg and casting includes Tom Cruise,
Tim Robbins, Miranda Otto, Dakota Fanning. The film is rated PG-13.

PG-13 and to know more about it, visit batmanbegins.com . It seems
Fantasy always gets sold. However, after the recent fantastic run-up of
Star Wars III in Box office, 'Batman' may find it tough to attract crowds
to return to theaters to watch another fantasy ... especially while
Spielberg's 'War of the World' is waiting to be released on June 29th. Posted by Hello

North by North-West

Star Wars III is history now. Let us take a deep breath and look at the
past again to bring to you some golden memories.

At a Lincoln Center retrospective of his films in New York in 1974, the
fabled director François Truffaut introduced two brilliant sequences from
Hitchcock films: the clash of the cymbals in The Man Who Knew Too
Much; and the low-flying plane attack on Cary Grant in North By
Northwest. Both of these breath-taking sequences have always been
critically rated among the greatest ones ever filmed.

Truffaut, reflecting on Hitchcock's uniqueness, summed it up in his usual
excellent way: 'It was impossible not to see that the love scenes were
filmed like murder scenes, and the murder scenes like love scenes...
It occurred to me that, in Hitchcock's cinema, to make love and to die are

one and the same.' Posted by Hello

Cinderella Man

Posted by Hello
After 'A Beautiful Mind' Ron Howard teams up again with Russell Crowe
... this time for a story inspired by the life of legendary athlete Jim
Braddock, a once-promising light heavyweight boxer who was forced into
retirement after a string of losses in the ring. As America enters the
darkest years of the Great Depression, Braddock accepts a string of
dead-end jobs to support his wife, Mae (Renee Zellweger), and their
children, while never totally abandoning his dream of boxing again.

Luck brings him a last minute cancellation by someone else and Braddock
again finds himself back in the ring against the second-ranked world
contender--and to everyone's amazement, Braddock wins in the 3rd
round. It is an amazing story of a man shouldering the hope and dreams
of the disenfranchised masses of the depression era.

Universal Pictures' 'Cinderella Man' is rated PG-13 and is set to hit the
pro-StarWar-era Box office on Friday June 3rd. Probably this will bring
another Oscar nomination for Russell Crowe and Ron Howard.
