Arthur Newman

'Arthur Newman' appears tomorrow to showcase the combination of two talents: Oscar-winning King Colin Firth and Emily Blunt (whom we still remember as the girl who stole so many scenes in 'Davil wears Prada').

Wallace Avery (Colin Firth) is tired of being a loser. Once a hot shot in the world of competitive amateur golf, Wallace failed miserably when he turned pro. Ten years after retiring from the pro tour, he's lost his job at FedEx. His ex-wife openly pities him. And his thirteen-year-old son hates him.

Unable to face his life of quiet desperation any longer, Wallace stages his own death and buys himself a new identity as Arthur Newman. His road trip towards a new life is derailed by the entrance of a beautiful loose cannon, Mike Fitzgerald (Emily Blunt), who's running from her own past.

Driving cross country, this mismatched pair of damaged souls begins to connect as they break into empty homes and take on the identities of the absent owners: elderly Southern newlyweds, preening hipsters, a golf champ and his Russian wife, among others.

An offbeat love story set in a perfect storm of identity crisis, 'Arthur Newman' looks at how two people try to remake themselves and come around to owning up to some basic truths about the identities they left at home.

Oblivion

This week should belong to Tom Cruise and Joseph Kosinski. Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from Mr. Kosinski, the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man's confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Morgan Freeman too stars in this movie. Two action movies released within a month for him (the other was 'Olympus has fallen'). That'll do, Morgan, That'll do!

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hand.

The movie runs for 2 hours and 5 minutes and is rated PG13 for sci-fi action violence, brief strong language, and some sensuality/nudity. Here's the official website: oblivionmovie.com

Disconnect

DISCONNECT explores the consequences of modern technology and how it affects and defines our daily relationships. Shot with eavesdropped naturalism, it marks the first fiction feature from Henry-Alex Rubin, director of the Oscar-nominated “Murderball", a 2005 American documentary film about quadriplegic athletes who play wheelchair rugby.

A widowed ex-cop struggles to raise a mischievous son who cyber-bullies a classmate. An ambitious journalist sees a career-making story in a teen that performs on an adult-only site. They are strangers, neighbors and colleagues and their stories collide in this compelling drama about ordinary people desperate for a human connection.

Disconnect is produced by Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Monroe of LD Entertainment and William Horberg of Wonderful Films from an original screenplay by Andrew Stern. The ensemble cast includes Jason Bateman (The Change-Up,Up in the Air), Hope Davis (Real Steel, Mildred Pierce), Frank Grillo (Gangster Squad, The Grey), Paula Patton (Precious, Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol), Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Andrea Riseborough (Brighton Rock, W. E.), Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Melancholia) and Max Thieriot (Jumper), as well as Jonah Bobo (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Colin Ford (We Bought A Zoo) and Haley Ramm (X-Men).
